Menu for King Lawler’s downtown Memphis eatery revealed?

PrintFriendly

Shortly after Jerry Lawler’s old menu for Slamburgers–the King’s fast-food joint in 1976–recently resurfaced (see above), speculation about the menu for his new restaurant in downtown Memphis began. (Thanks to my buddy Dave Millican for the menu–he’s the only mark I know who still had one.) According to Lawler’s partner, Joe Cooper, the only known menu item thus far is “The Piledriver”–a sandwich with, you know, the meat “piled high.”

I have it on good authority that the following items are also under consideration. I’d love to hear your suggestions as well. The best submission from my KFR readers will receive a DVD of classic Memphis wrestling from my personal collection–not Corey Maclin’s. (One menu item, “the Big Maclin,” has been scratched because of possible further litigation.)

The Rock ‘n’ Egg Roll Express actually sounds like a real take out item.

Your list is so definitive it would be hard to follow up.

    Fabulous Fargo Fries
    Lance’s Banana Nose Split
Also from the desert menu – Blonde Bomber-pops

    And…the ones I’m not pround of…

The New Kids menu…discontinued after Head busboy Brian Christopher’s heel turn over having to clean up after a birthday party group.

Selections from the King’s personal wine cellar – no vintage older than 18 years. (Lord, I apologize…)

I added Brickhouse Brownies, Dave Hash Browns and Big Red Velvet Cake.

I’m digging recommendations like Cherry Calhoun Cola (instead of Milkshake), Jim’s Cornette on the Cob, the Dirty White Beans, and LeDuc’s Blood-Oat-Meal Cookies. Nice nod to the British, Tiny.

There’s a Mexican food chain in the upper Midwest that has “Macho Nachos” on their menu; though apparently there’s no connection to Mr. Savage.

However, I would add the Tupelo Concession Stand Special Hot Dog (Mustard everywhere!)

    so, who got the dvd?

Stephen and Emperor Mar–it was a close competition between you two…but my favorite was Tony Anthony’s Dirty White Beans. Stephen, send your address to
bowden@kentuckyfriedwrestling.com and I’ll get the DVD out to you next week. By the way, yesterday I reported that Lawler was strongly considering backing out of the deli–in fact, I heard he was pulling the plug. Joe Cooper himself not only reaffirmed their plans last night to open Jerry “King” Lawler’s downtown, but also advised that “whoever posted that better have a good lawyer.” For a convicted felon, Cooper sure is litigious. FYI, Mr. Cooper: While I have still have my high-powered team of lawyers at the ready in Germantown, the post has since been removed. (I give the place six months.)

Finally, a gentle reminder: Click the google ads on the site, ya stinkin’ rednecks. (Don’t go crazy, but one click a visit is the least you jabronis can do for your favorite rasslin’ Web site.)

alas…Lawler has pulled out of the deal… so this is not to be…over before it even started

Yeah, I’m going to repost my original notice about the deal going south later today. Seems one of the many stumbling blocks was that Cooper wanted the place to apply for a liquor license, which Lawler was strongly against.
