TNA paid $15,000 for this

In my opinion, wrestling works best when it blurs the lines of fantasy and reality-but not necessarily fantasy and reality TV. I suppose the appearance of JWoww on last night’s iMPACT is at the very least getting TNA some mainstream publicity, something the company desperately needs, especially coming off the heels of its big angle at Sunday’s PPV. Then again, World heavyweight champion David Arquette got WCW on the front page of USA Today and we all know how that turned out. Will it matter much in the long run? Of course not. TNA’s problems go far beyond merely getting noticed by the mainstream public.

While I believe time and money could be better spent on establishing a solid foundation of new, young talent and captivating storylines, TNA has instead over the years been focused on the quick fix, the hotshot angle to turn heads and get on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, CNN or Sports Center, hence the signings of Johnny Fairplay and Jenna Morasca, the crowning of Pacman Jones as World tag champion, and the public offer to Rod Blagojevich to appear with the Main Event Mafia. I think that Dixie Carter & Co. believe they have a superior product to WWE but can’t compete because no one knows about them. All they need, they theorize, is the next Mike Tyson/DX/Stone Cold angle to make people aware there’s another major wrestling company out there that isn’t owned by Vince McMahon.

Supposedly, one of the reasons why Paul Heyman isn’t coming in was because he made it very clear that he would have to virtually start from scratch and slowly rebuild the TNA product over  a year to 18 months. I’ll bet Dixie didn’t like hearing that.

Becky Bayless is pretty good in the Cookie role, so the segment wasn’t as bad as I feared, but I felt a little bad for Mike Tenay having to react as if this was one of greatest moments in TNA history.

This worst part (not counting my disdain for Jersey Shore) is that she should have been brought in to help put over the gimmick. Her siding with them would have been better. And unless this is going to lead more appearances, her punking out cookie was just the wrong move all around.

Bringing in celebrities isn’t going to work unless you put over the talent. Tyson/Austin/DX worked because it put over the fact that Austin was bad ass and wouldn’t back down from anyone. This just put over the fact that cookie (a trained wrestler) got beat up by Jwoww. Also, while the Shore gimmick works in some ways, it shouldn’t be direct parody, down to the similar names. You might as well have just named him the Circumstance.

I wish TNA would stop giving me so many reasons to dislike them when I really want to be a big fan.

Met Becky Bayless at an ROH show a few years back, she’s a super short, gorgeous little hot ticket!

Well, I have no idea who any of these people are or what they are trying to accomplish, but I suppose we could look on the bright side… since wrestling has become so terrible and so willing to hire any superficially attractive woman, at least these chicks are spared a life either stripping or in porn, which is probably where they belong…

David, Becky Bayless can really work in the ring-you don’t survive in ROH if you’re just a love doll come to life, so your comment is more than fairly asinine. She’s in a gimmick that is getting crapped on right now, to be sure, but both Becky AND Rob Eckos can work AND get the crowd going with their mic work and in-ring psychology.

Look at it this way, she and Rob are in a gimmick, based on a TV show probably none of those Southern fans have ever watched, you think they are going to get any love???

Bayless didn’t work jack all in ROH- she stood outside the ring. Come on

And Rob Eckos is one of the laziest wrestlers out there, the booking here was incredibly stupid, put your own talent over for Christ’s sake

Encore-the night I was at ROH, front row-Becky did indeed get in the ring and work…sorry if you feel otherwise.
