MachoMania runnin’ wild: Mattel unleashes Randy Savage

Freak out!

Dig it! More Randy Savage merchandise is on the way. A week after THQ revealed the cover of its upcoming WWE All Stars video game featuring the Macho Man, Mattel released images of a new Savage action figure to be released to help promote the release. Unlike his initial Mattel figure (well worth the $23 price tag), Savage this time is featured in his classic gear, circa ’86. It even comes with two different Macho-looking bandanas-oh yeeahhh. The only downside is it’s only being sold as a two-pack with John Morrison.

Que es mas macho?

But take heart, Macho Maniacs: Another Savage figure will be released as part of the Mattel Legends line in March, complete with the classic Macho Man logo T-shirt from the ’80s. Again, this is notable, as Vince McMahon refused to sign off on any Savage-related merchandise for more than a decade. Clearly, wounds have healed, and the chairman wants to do business with the Macho Man. As McMahon used to always crow back in the ’80s, “Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!”

Miss Elizabeth sold separately.

If a deal with Mattel means a crappy PG product, I’ll gladly accept it for action figures as awesome as these.

The legends stuff has been amazing so far. For those unaware, the series that features the orange trunks Savage also has Bam Bam Bigelow, Akeem, and Rick “The Model” Martel. All of them look fantastic.

I will be sad, though, if Savage only has the shirt and not a robe.

Agreed, Calcifer. The Model figure looks awesome with his “Yes, I am a Model” pin and the arrogance dispenser. I’d love to see a Savage with a robe too. I’m sure they’ll make one eventually. It’s too bad Hogan is with TNA because I would crap myself for a mega powers two pack.

I bought the Hogan TNA Jakks piece, just because it was so impressive looking. The Mick Foley one is awesome too, but the one I ran across the same day I bought the Hogan was destroyed, like someone ran over it with the Red Target cart…bummer.
